He was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm bowler who played for Kurunegala Youth Cricket Club. He was born in Kurunegala. Bandara made a single first-class appearance for the team, during the 1998-1999 season, against Nondescripts.
In the only innings in which he batted, he scored a duck.
