Charles-Nicolas Baudiot was a pupil of Janson whom he succeeded as professor at the Paris Conservatoire.
In 1816 he was appointed first cellist in the royal orchestra. Pensioned in 1832.
Published a great variety of chamber music for cello and two concertos, 2 concertinosand etc. for ditto. Wrote "Methode complete de Violoncelle" (opera 25) and " Instruction pour les compositeurs" that was a guide to writers for cello. With Levasseur and Baillot he wrote the cello method used at the Conservatory.
