Triflers with sin, and with God's Spirit seeking to convince them of sin, are "crucifying the Son of God afresh, and putting Him to an open shame " (Heb. vi. 6). He may retain "the form" of godliness, but he can know nothing of its " power." The Gospel alone, in its simplicity, in its fulness, in its freeness, revealing the Father's love, the Saviour's grace, and the Spirit's power, meets the sinner's wants.
