Commanded force against the Kwo Ibibios, Southern Nigeria, also Benin Territories, 1899 (despatches, twice, M.G., clasp). Took part with the Ashanti Field Force for the relief of Kumasi, 1900, in command of 3rd West African Frontier Force (severely wounded, medal and clasp). Was Commandant 3rd Battalion West African Frontier Force. The Royal Scots, halfpay.
