Bachelor"s degree in Political Science from Florida State University in 1957.
Master"s degree in Business Administration from George Washington University in 1965.
Doctorate in Public Administration from Nova Southeastern University in 1976.
Career
His last post in the Air Force was as the Commander of the Air Force, Tactical Air Command at Bergstrom Air Force Base, Texas. After his retirement from the military he served as Director of the Defense Security Service until 2002. While working for the United States. Department of Defense he held several executive positions within the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the Defense Intelligence Agency.
Prior to the Tactical Air Command he served as a deputy chief of staff at the United States. Air Force Headquarters.
Cunningham also served as deputy director for programs and evaluation.
