Career
He enlisted in the Naval Reserve on April 25, 1941 and was appointed an aviation cadet November 13, 1941. While flying a carrier aircraft, Ensign Duffy was killed in action during the Naval Battle of Casablanca, French Morocco, on November 8, 1942 during the landings on North Africa. The destroyer escort United States Ship Duffy (Delaware-27) was named after Charles Duffy.
