He was educated in Philadelphia, at the age of seventeen he entered the office of architect Addison Hutton as a student.
After completing his early training under Addison Hutton, the young man continued in the office as draftsman until 1891, when he began practice for himself.
During his career Mr. Hillman designed a number of commercial buildings in Philadelphia, also was architect of the Fairview State Hospital in Wayne Co., Pa., and the First Italian Church (10th & Kimball St.) in Philadelphia. An active member of his profession
