Charles Holder

Career

Holder ran for a seat to the Alberta Legislature for the first time in the 1935 Alberta general election as a Social Cr candidate. Holder ran for a second term in the 1940 Alberta general election. He was defeated by Independent candidate Lionel Tellier on the fourth count in a hotly contested race.

Holder was nominated to run for Social Cr again at a convention held in Morinville on February 9, 1944.

Holder did not for a third term and retired at dissolution in 1948.

Achievements

• He ran in the general election held that year and won on the second vote count to regain the seat.

Politics

He won a hotly contested race in the electoral district of Saint Albert defeating incumbent Omer Saint Germain to pick up the seat for his party.

Membership

He served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1935 to 1940 and 1944 to 1948 sitting both times as a member of the Social Cr caucus.
