Charles James

Background

James was born in Stoke-upon-Trent and played for amateur side Halmerend before joining Stoke in 1908.

Career

He became a bit-part player for Stoke in this three seasons there making a modest 13 appearances. He later worked at the Florence Colliery and also played for the works football team

Achievements

• James won a cap for New Zealand during the 1910 Great Britain Lions tour of Australia and New Zealand, playing left-wing in the 20-52 defeat by Great Britain at the Domain Cricket Ground, Auckland on Saturday 30 July 1910.
