Has travelled much in Egypt, Nubia, Greece, Italy, Sicily, and throughout Europe, partly for purposes of classical research. Brought from Erment in Upper Egypt a stone with Greek inscription (early Christian), of which a facsimile has been published in the Proceedings of the Royal Irish Academy. Acquired at Luxor and Elephantine Greek ostraka (early Ptolemaic and of the time of the Emperor Claudius) of considerable interest, facsimiles of which have appeared in the Journal of Hellenic Studies.
