Private tutor; Ranmor Theological College Sheffield. Was early in business. Sold out and went to College to be trained and educated for the Nonconformist ministry.
Carried on his ministry at Sheffield, Birmingham, Manchester, and London. Doctor of Divinity.
Founded the Queen’s Park College and Institute in West London, now carried on by the London County Council. Has written a large number of books and stories. Has travelled in America, and made eight visits to Palestine and Egypt.
Has been recognised as one of the founders of the Sunday afternoon movement. Retired from the Pastorate and became a Parliamentary candidate. He is one of the founders and now Vice-Chairman of the Abstainers and General Insurance Coy., Ltd. Member of Parliament (Liberal) Colne Valley, West Riding of Yorkshire, since 1910.
