Retired after 50 years in the United States Weather Bureau, 1934. Conducted experiments upon which are based the tables used by Weather Bureau for deducing the moisture in the air. Made important investigations of anemometers for measurement of wind velocities and pressures.
Invented instruments for measuring and automatically recording rainfall, snowfall, sunshine, atmospheric pressure, etc. Has made extensive studies and written on use of kites for ascertaining meteorological conditions in the free air, the registration of earthquakes, the measurement of evaporation, solar radiation, temperature with electrical resistance thermometers, etc.
Author of various tach. papers on meteorology and the simplification of the calendar, including proposal to improve Gregorian rule for leap years by omitting 4 leap years in 500 years which will keep the reckoning accurate for more than 10,000 years Co-author: Moses the Greatest of Calendar Reformers.
