Charles McDougall was born in 1857.
He began his career in his father’s office, subsequently practiced in association with his brothers Benjamin and George, and after 1920 carried on his work alone. Under the firm name of McDougall Brothers he was connected with the design of the Calvary Episcopal Church at Fillmore and Jackson Streets, San Francisco, built 1899-1900; Central Y. M. C. A. Building at Leavenworth and Golden Gate Avenue, and other public and business structures. After a period of nearly fifty years in practice Mr. McDougall retired to private life a few years prior to his decease.
