Early in the 1850s Miller served as draftsman in the Cleveland office of John J. Husband then a leading practitioner in the city, later moved to St. Louis where he formed a partnership with John J. Bowen and carried on work until the outbreak of the Civil War. Following the end of hostilities Mr. Miller established an office in Toledo and continued in practice there until 1871, known to have been the architect of a number of notable structures including the Board of trade Building and St. Paul s Church. During the latter years of the century he lived and carried on his work in Chicago.
