Studied at St. Mark’s College Chelsea. Royal Academy of Music. Solo treble at St. Stephen’s, South Kensington, and Italian Church, Hatton Garden.
As understudy played the Duke and Grosvenor in Patience at Savoy. Then toured for about two years with D’Oyly Carte’s Provincial Comjjanies. Played three seasons in America, returning to London in 1888 to create the part of Fairfax in Yeomen of the Guard at Savoy Theatre.
Appeared at that theatre in all subsequent productions till 1892. Has toured during summer with own Light Opera Company.
Joined Williamson and M usgrove’s Opera Company in Australia, 1895, playing a number of parts. Returned to London, 1896. Played The Novice in La Poupee, following with the tenor parts in The Royal Star and The Coquette at the Prince of Wales Theatre.
Then at the Lyceum in The Snowman, and as Wilder in a revival of Dorothy. As the Clown in Twelfth Night, Ferdinand in the Last of the Dandies, The Minstrel in Ulysses, and Sir Hugh in Merry Wives at Her Majesty’s, Touchstone at the Prince’s Theatre, Manchester, the name part in a revival of Chilperic, and Papillon in the London and New York productions of the Duchess of Dantzic. Accompanied Mr. Tree on his Berlin visit, and appeared in Tatters at the Shaftesbury, 1907.
Played Touchstone, 1908. Actor and vocalist.
