South Africa, 1899-1900, including battles of Colenso, Spion Kop, Pieter’s Hill, Relief of Ladysmith, operations in O.R.C. and Transvaal. Commanded S.A.C. Column 1901-1902 (despatches twice, brevet Major, Queen’s medal, 5 clasps. King’s medal, 2 clasps.
Companion of the Distinguished Service Order). District Commissioner in Crete 1898-1899, and in O.R.C. 1900-1901. Is employed with S.A.C. Companion of the Distinguished Service Order 1902; The Border Regiment.
