Studied at High School, Roundhay, Leeds. Wesleyan Theological College, Richmond, Surrey. On leaving Richmond College in 1895, became assistant to the late Reverend Hugh Price Hughes in the West London Mission.
Elected member of St. Pancras Vestry, 1898, also appointed Local Manager London School Board. Member of St. Pancras Borough Council, 1890. Chairman of the Public Health Committee, 1890-1892.
Much interested in housing of working classes. On death of Reverend Hugh Price Hughes succeeded to the office of Superintendent of the West London Mission. Wesleyan Minister, Sheffield, since 1907.
