Weidman, Charles was born on July 22, 1901 in Lincoln, Nebraska, United States. Son of Charles Edward and Vesta (Hoffman) Weidman.
Studied dance with Ruth St. Denis, Ted Shawn, Theodore Kosliff.
Teacher, Eleanor Frampton, 1931. Toured in vaudeville with Martha Graham, later with Denishawn Dancing Company, touring England, United States, Orient. With Doris Humphrey established own dancing school and company, 1929.
Pioneer development modern dance in the United States. Established own dance company, 1941, since touring United States yearly. Producer ballet Fables For Our Time, 1948.
Former choreographer New York City Center Opera. Established with Mikhail Santoro, Expression of Two Arts Theatre, 1960. Guggenheim fellow, 1947.
