Charles Wharton

Career

He was selected as an All-American guard in 1896 while playing for the University of Pennsylvania. He served as state senator in Delaware from 1914 to 1917. Buck also served as Penn"s director of field athletics and line coach.

In 1963, he was posthumously inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.

Achievements

• The Penn teams of 1894 and 1895, with Wharton and fellow Hall of Fame inductee, Charlie Gelbert, as the guards were undefeated both years and won back-to-back national championships.
