Isaiah Churchill Woods, a San Francisco-based businessman and entrepreneur, had the misfortune of being associated with Adams and Company when that banking and express agency collapsed in the panic of 1855. He bore the resulting damnation the rest of his life. He established the San Diego to San Antonio stagecoach and mail line, served with Fremont in the Civil War, and played an important role in California history. The fifteenth volume in the American Trails Series.
