Also to Lord Selborne, 1895. Resigned on promotion, 1896. Specially detailed for the preparation of the case of His (or Her) Majesty Government in the Venezuela boundary matter, and attached to the AttorneyGeneral’s staff in Paris, 1899.
Member of Advisory Committee on Commercial Intelligence (Board of Trade), 1900. Charged with the conduct of British case in Brazilian boundary question, 1901-1904. Principal Clerk, Colonial Office, 1898-1909.
Decorated for services in connection with above-named boundary arbitrations. Chief Clerk Colonial Office since 1909.
Keenly interested in all athletics and sport, but now mostly cricket and flyfishing.
