Educational public schools, La Grange and Palmyra, Wisconsin. Studied law privately.

Career

Admitted to bar, Waupaca, Wisconsin, 1875. Located La Porte City, Black Hawk Company, Iowa, 1876. Member legislature from Black Hawk Company, 1882.

Moved to Des Moines, 1886. District Judge 9th district Iowa, 1889-1890, and 1895-1902. Apptd to fill vacancy, 1902, and elected November, 1902, as Supreme judge.

Was chief justice Supreme Court, Iowa. Now justice same.
