Lindsley, Charles Augustus was born on August 19, 1826 in Orange, New Jersey, United States. Son of John and Eliza L. (Condit) Lindsley.

Education

Graduate Trinity College, Hartford, 1849, A.M., 1852. Studied medicine, College of Physical & Surgical, New York, and medical department Yale, graduate Doctor of Medicine 1852. Has since practiced at New Haven.

Professor materia medica and therapeutics, Yale Medical School, 1860-1883. Professor theory and practice of medicine, 1883-1897. Dean of faculty, 1863-1885.

Lecturer sanitary science, since 1898. Attending physician Connecticut Eastern State Hospital, 1864-1876. Secretary General Hospital Society, 1865-1877.

Health officer of New Haven, 1874-1888. Member and has been president of medical societies of his city and State. Vice-president and president New Haven Dispensary from its origin, 1872-1905.

Member Connecticut State Board of Health from its organization, 1878, and secretary, from 1884.
