Ordained to ministry by Columbia Presbytery, 1840. In charge of Presbyterian Church, Housatonic, Massachusetts, 1840-1845, Lansingburg, New York, 1845-1846. Minister 6th Presbyterian Church, Cincinnati, 1846-1856, 58-65, 73-77.

Chaplain United States House of Representatives, 1865-1869.
