Assisted in William Tennent’s church, Neshaminy, 1743, pastor, 1743. Missionary in Virginia and North Carolina, 1754. Chaplain Pennsylvania troops engaged in fighting in Indian wars, 1755.
Active in organizing relief funds for ministers’ widows and in conversion of Indians. Moderator Presbyterian Synod of N.B. (Canada), 1764. Became trustee College of New Jersey (now Princeton), 1763.
