English Delegate, International Fisheries Exhibition, Bergen, and International Fisheries Congress, Dieppe, 189S. Received thanks of Government of NewZealand for services in connection with introduction of trout and efforts to acclimatise salmon in the colony, 1873, and 1910. Awarded silver medal Society of Arts for invention of preserving pilchards as sardines—a 732 new industry in this country—1876.
Silver medal Royal Cornwall Polytechnic Society, 1875. Bronze medal Philadelphia International Exhibition, 1876. Awarded first prize for essay on Relations of the State with Fishermen and Fisheries, International Fisheries Exhibition, 1883, and diploma of Royal Commission for services rendered.
Member Executive Committee, International Fisheries Congress, Washington, 1908. Imperial Service Order, A. A., Oxford; Honorary Member American Fisheries Society; Superintending Inspector Board of Agriculture and Fisheries since 1903.
