Fowler, Charles Evan was born on February 10, 1867 in Bartlett, Washington County, Ohio, United States. Son of Chalkley T. and Phebe W. (Hobson) Fowler.

Engineer since 1886; bridge engineer Hocking Valley (O.) Railway, 1887. Designing engineer Berlin (Connecticut) Iron Bridge Company, 1889. Engineer Bear Valley (California) Irrigation Company, 1891.

Chief engineer Youngstown (O.) Bridge Company, 1891-1898. Built Knoxville (Tennessee) cantilever and Youngstown arch, also bridges for 60 American rys. Consulting engineer, New York, 1898-1900, erection Williamsburg suspension 1,600 foot span, numerous other bridges and buildings United States and Canada.

President and Chief engineer construction companies, 1900-1913. Built White Pass (Alaska) arch and navy coaling plant. Associate on Manila (P.I.) harbor.

Filling Seattle tide flats and dredging contracts 20 million yards. Associate in planning Seattle park system and Seattle port improvements. Foundations 42 story building and 600 foot brick chimney.

Plans for three 2,000 foot spans, three 2,400 foot sus. spans, San Francisco-Oakland Bay bridge, 1915, and 4,850 foot suspension. Construction engineering New York City, 1917-1941. Rebuilt Niagara Railway arch, 1919, receiving Rowland Prize American Society Civil Engineers.

Plans for Detroit, 1,850 foot suspension bridge, 1920-1921, for 1,650 foot arch bridge, Sydney, Australia, foundations 34 story building, Detroit. 24 mile causeway over Lake Pontchartrain at New Orleans, Narrows Bridge, New York City, 4,550 foot suspension, Mackinac Cantilever Bridge and Causeway, 25 miles, Soo International Bridge, 2,000 foot suspension. Construction engineering other long span bridge projects, plans 1,500 foot high building, New York.

2,500 foot television tower, New York. Harbor work including 50 mile ship canal and 24 mile railway and hy. bridge and causeway, United States, Mexico and Cuba. 250-foot piers, Tacoma-Lincoln bridge, and others.

Consulting engineer in defense work, 1941-1943. Past president board park commissioner Madrona Heights Improvement Club. Trustee Seattle Chamber Commerce, 10 years, Seattle Exposition, 1909.
