Carey, Charles Henry was born on October 27, 1857 in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. Son of Samuel Doak and Martha Louisa (Fenton) Carey.

Ph. B., Denison U., 1881, Doctor of Laws, 1931. Bachelor of Laws, Cincinnati College, 1883. Degree Master of Arts in Public Service, University of Oregon, 1927.

Career

Engaged in practice of law at Portland, 1883-1932, except 1888-1889, Detroit, Michigan. Senior member Carey, Hart, Spencer & McCulloch for many years, retiring December 31, 1932. Appointed by governor, corporation commissioner of Oregon, resigned April 15, 1937.

Oregon counsel for various railways, public service corporations, industrial and commercial companies Municipal judge, Portland, 1892-1895. One of founders and president Multnomah Law Library.
