Studied at Bradford Grammar School. Clare College Cambridge (Master of Arts). Rowed in winning University Trial Eight, 1887.

Wrote for magazines.

Career

Travelled in Balearic Islands, Europe, Canary Islands, Congo Free State, Gold Coast, Arctic Sea, Russian Lapland, North America, Mexican Gulf Keys, Algeria, Tunisia, Southern Morocco, Western Mexico,etc. 1034 also much at sea. Makes a point of covering at least 10,000 miles of new ground every year. Novelist and traveller; interested in mining in Mexico.
