One of three who originated the fusion movement which resulted, 1913, in the election of John Purroy Mitchel as mayor of Greater New New York
In this campaign he was treasurer of the Citizens’ Municipal Committee, the so-called “Committee of 107,” and ran the campaign without a deficit. Largely instrumental in opening up the desert country between the Colorado River and Navajo Mount in northern Arizona and southern Utah, also discovered many heretofore unknown natural bridges, cliff ruins and dinosaur tracks, which latter have been pronounced by American Museum Natural History and other scientific bodies as the most perfect specimens ever discovered.
