Career

Teacher, Friends’ School, Philadelphia, later principal Friends’ school, Quakertown. In wool business, Philadelphia, 1861-1872, retired. Studied art abroad, 1872-1874, and 1885-1890, and on many shorter visits.

Owns one of the largest and most varied collections of antique tapestries in the world, including the famous collection of the Barberini family, bought in 1888.

Director Fletcher Manufacturing Company, Providence, Rhode Island, and interested in several other companies President National Society of Fine Arts. Home: Washington, Distric.
