Peters, Charles Rollo was born on April 10, 1862 in San Francisco, California, United States. Son of Charles R. Peters.
Educated Urban Academy, San Francisco. Studied art under Jules Tavenier, of San Francisco, 1885. Student, École des Beaux Arts, Paris, 6 years.
Has made special study of moonlight effects on Old California missions. Honorable mention for picture, “Legend of Brittany,” Munich, 1889 (picture now in Bohemian Club, San Francisco). Given individual exhibition at Union League Club, New York, 1899.
Notable pictures are: “Camp by the Cross,” now in New York. “The Oregon,” bought by subscription and presented to the ship, by her builder, Irving M. Scott. “The San Juan Mission”.
“The River”; “After the Gringo Came,” etc. Home: Monterey, California*.
