Principal high school, Waldoboro, Maine, 1882-1883. Admitted to Maine bar, 1886, and began practice at Portland, with Symonds & Libby. Now consultant counsel Cook, Hutchinson, Pierce & Connell.

Also Chairman of the Board National Bank of Commerce (Portland).

Member of the board of directors National Traders Bank until 1906. Member Governor’s Council, 1899-1905, chairman, 1901-1902.
