Prior to this she has worked with Aaj Tak as an Associate Editor & Anchor in Mumbai. She has a twin sister named Parul and a younger brother Gaurav Malik. After class X, She did Class XII in arts and then going ahead to complete her Bachelor (HONS) with Bachelor of Laws She wanted to enroll herself for a course in current affairs
Thus her father, a lawyer himself, advised her to join Bachelor of Laws Charul said she spent most of childhood days with her family watching television
Those days Doordarshan was the only available television channel and Salma Sultan and Nalini Singh were her role models. Famous television celebrities Prannoy Roy and Vinod Dua have even complimented her on her fine flow of speech on more than one occasion.

Charul also won the MY CITY award for the Best Entertainment News Anchor for the year 2014/15. Charul was also nominated for the Best Anchor with the prestigious award AVTA (Asian Viewers Television Awards) where she narrowly lost out to Barkha Dutt of NDTV in the final round.
