Career
Schrader received a bachelor"s degree in electrical engineering with a concentration in computers and communications from Valparaiso University in 1984. And master"s and doctorate degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Notre Dame in 1987 and 1991. She consulted for McDonnell Douglas Astronautics and Chimera Research in the 1980s before taking a teaching position at Notre Dame and Rice University (1991).
She became a tenured professor at the University of Texas at San Antonio and served as associate dean
In 2005 she became professor and dean of the College of Engineering at Boise State University. In January 2011 she became associate vice president for strategic research initiatives in Boise State"s Division of Research and Economic Development.
She was also named one of Valparaiso University’s Top 150 Most Influential People.
Achievements

She received Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring from the White House (2005). The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Education Society Hewlett-Packard/Harriett B. Rigas Award. The Idaho Women Making History Award. And the WebCT Exemplary Online Course Award.
Membership
She is a past president of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Control Systems Society, and a member of Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Incorporated. Accreditation Commission.
