Chairman Uromi District Council and Ishan Division Council. Director National Coal Board 1953-1956. Minister of Home Affairs, Transport, Information and Midwest Affairs and Leader of the House (Western Region) 1954-1959.
Federation Member of Parliament and 469 Opposition Spokesman on Foreign Affairs, Internal Affairs and Legislature Affairs 1959-1963.
Moved motion for self-government, and attended all constitutional talks preceding independence in 1960. Detained during Emergency period Western Region 1962, fled to Britain, extradited and imprisoned in Nigeria for treasonable felony.
Released by Military Government 1966. Leader, Midwest State delegation to Constitutional Conference and
President World Black and African Festival of Arts and Culture 1972-1975.
State Chairman National Party of Nigeria 1978-1980. Chairman Committees Edo State Movement since 1981, Nigerian Shippers Council 1982. Honorary Doctor of Science (Benin) 1972.
