(This textbook on the fundamental aspects of solid state e...)
This textbook on the fundamental aspects of solid state electronics presents basic and state-of-the-art topics on materials physics, device physics, and basic circuit building blocks not covered by existing textbooks on the subject. Each topic is introduced with a historical background and motivations of device invention and circuit evolution. Fundamental physics is discussed with minimum need of algebra and advanced mathematics. Another special feature is a systematic classification of fundamental mechanisms not found even in advanced texts. It bridges the gap between solid state device physics covered here with what students have learnt in their first two years of study. Used very successfully in a one-semester introductory core course for electrical and other engineering, materials science and physics junior students, the second part of each chapter is also used in an advanced undergraduate course on solid state devices. The inclusion of previously unavailable analyses of the basic transistor digital circuit building blocks and cells makes this a useful reference for engineers to look up fundamental concepts and data, design formulae, and latest devices such as the GeSi heterostructure bipolar transistors.

(This companion to "Fundamentals of Solid-State Electronic...)
This companion to "Fundamentals of Solid-State Electronics - Study Guide" provides the solutions to selected problems listed in the book. Most of the solutions are for selected assigned problems from an introductory device core course taught to engineering undergraduates at the University of Florida from 1991 to 1996. The manual also contains an extensive appendix on state-of-the-art transistor reliability physics and engineering discussions and solutions which have been taught to advanced undergraduate and graduate students at that university.

(This companion to Fundamentals of Solid-State Electronics...)
This companion to Fundamentals of Solid-State Electronics provides a helpful summary of the main text for students and lecturers alike. The clear typeface, large font, and point form layout, are designed to produce viewgraphs for lectures and to provide ample margins for study notes. This Study Guide comes complete with a detailed description of two one-semester solid-state electronics core courses, taught to about 80-100 sophomore-junior students each time, four years apart. It links the contents of the one-semester lecture course to the textbook.
