Chihei graduated from Tokyo University.
Career
After serving for two years with the Miyako Newspaper started his literary career by publishing in 1932 his maiden work titled "The Seeds of A Tropical Willow”. Thereafter affiliated himself with ''Nippon Romanha”（The Japan Romantic School) and wrote works with rich local color. Presently is a chief librarian of Miyazaki Prefectural Library.
