In 1916 after graduating from Tohoku University Chika Kuroda proceeded to England for further studies.
Upon return Chika Kuroda was appointed professor at Tokyo Girls Higher Normal School, to eventually rejoin her alma mater as professor. She is a pioneer among women scientists in this country and was conferred a doctorate, Doctor of Science, for her thesis on the chemical composition of pigment of rouge.
