Chinzan Onuma

Background

Chinzan Onuma was born in 1818 in Edo (now Tokyo, Japan).

Education

Studied Chinese poetry under Gozan Kikuchi and Seigan Yanagawa.

Career

After studying in Europe and the United States, he was appointed professor of political science at his alma mater. Shortly before the start of the Russo-Japanese War (1904), he and six other doctors recommended strong policy toward Russia to the government.
