Lee, Choochon was born on June 8, 1930 in Seoul, Republic of Korea. Came to the United States, 1962. Son of Yoon Young and Soon Ye (Rhee) Lee.

From instructor to assistant professor Seoul National University, 1957-1962. Research associate University Illinois, Urbana, 1968. Research physicist University Montreal, Quebec, Canada, 1968-1975.

Associate professor Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Seoul, Taejon, 1975-1978, professor, 1978-1992, Korea Telecommunications Foundation professor physics, since 1992, president Seoul, 1980-1992. Visiting scholar Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts, 1982-1983, 87-88.

Achievements

• Achievements include discovery of negative staerble-wronski experiment. First to confirm mechanism of Controversial State III annealing in gold, to explain persistent photocontercivity in a-Si:H and a-Si:H/a-SiN multilayers. 1st observation of persistent photo conductivity in porous silicon.
