Choshichi Kimura began his career as an employee of Ono Co., traders in rice and silk, and when the company closed down (1877) joined the business firm of Ichibe Furuka-wa, and showed considerable aptitude in managing the firm's coal mines, in recognition of which he was made director when Furukawa died (1903). He was promoted Chief Secretary to Furukawa Mining Co. and helped the business to prosper (1905). Retired in 1913.
