He has been featured in Surfing Magazine and his talented clients have brought attention to his boards after seven Billabong XXL awards. The board he shaped for Greg Long (surfer) was showcased in the Los Angeles Times after winning the prestigious Eddie Aikau Invitational Surf Contest
Chris’s shaping career began in 1992 shortly after moving to San Diego to attend Point Loma Nazarene University on a Golf scholarship. From there, he worked alongside Brewer and Skip Frye as he honed his craft.
Chris Christenson is also an ambassador for surf brand Depactus, sport and lifestyle brand Electric Visual and surfing apparel and accessories brand, Captain Finance, Financial Company.
Some of Chris’s favorite surfboard builders include Brewer, Skip Frye, Jack Reeves, Mike Diffenderfer, Rusty Preisendorfer, Simon Anderson, Tyler Hatzikian and Eric Christenson. While shaping surfboards, Christenson usually listens to Radiohead, Hot Snakes, The Mars Volta, Mastodon (band), The Murder City Devils, Ludovico Einaudi and Queens of the Stone Age.
Current Chris splits his residency between Cardiff by the Sea and Swall Meadows, Ca. Timing his trips up and back for the best swells and the best conditions for Backcountry snowboarding.
