Background
Christian Peter Coulson was born in Manchester, England, on 3 October 1978. Christian was raised in Manchester in a middle-class family, but he spent very little time with his parents while he was growing up, as both of them worked most of the time.
His parents were abroad when he was studying, and so, he felt alone and like an orphan most of the time.
Education
After his parents noticed Coulson's interest in acting, they let him take acting lessons from the age of seven. Christian attended Arnold House Preparatory School in London before enrolling at Westminster School for which he won an academic scholarship. In 1990 at the age of 12, he became a member of the United Kingdom’s National Youth Music Theatre, and then in 1997 enrolled at the University of Cambridge’s Clare College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 2000. While there, he played the Master of Ceremonies in the "Cabaret" musical, and Claire in "The Maids" play, while he also made appearances in movies and TV series.
Christian made his debut film appearance in "The Four Feathers" in 2002, and then won the role of Tom Riddle in the "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" fantasy film which spread his name worldwide. Tom Marvolo Riddle was an English half-blood wizard who grew up to become Lord Voldemort also known as the Dark Lord, the most powerful and dangerous dark wizard of all time. The audition for Tom Riddle was supposed to be attended only by those who were between 15 and 17 years old, but even though Christian was 23 at the time, he was allowed to attend the audition and then went on to win the role.
In the same year, Christian was cast to portray Ralph Partridge in "The Hours," and in 2005 appeared in the film "Take Me Back." His next notable role was in four episodes of "Charles II: The Power and The Passion" in 2003, after which he appeared in a single episode of several TV series, such as "Little Britain" in 2003, "The Batter’s Down: Losing My Mind" in 2009, and "Gossip Girl" in 2010. Some of his most recent appearances have been in five episodes of “Nashville” in 2017, and in "Mozart in the Jungle" appearing in eight episodes in 2018.
Christian has been featured in two audio dramas entitled "Doctor Who: The Bride of Peladon" in 2007 and "Doctor Who: The Haunting of Thomas Brewster" in 2008.
He has also been featured in seven audiobooks between 2011 and 2018 some of which are "Twenty Trillion Leagues Under the Sea" by Adam Roberts in 2014, "The Dead House" by Dawn Kurtagich in 2015, and "Into?" by North Morgan in 2018.
