He is an associate professor at the Berklee College of Music. His artistic collaborators have included Les Paul and Greg Osby, and his sponsors have included Yamaha. The 2009 Down Beat Critics" Poll ranked Howes at #2 under "Rising Stars/Violin".
The Minneapolis-Saint Paul Star-Tribune called him "the finest, fieriest jazz violinist since Billy Bang".
Howes is the brother of entrepreneur Lewis Howes.
