Education
Christian Jeune earned a Licence en Droit, the French law degree, from the Faculty of Law of Caen, completing it in 1949. The faculty belonged to the University of Caen, which was founded in 1432 and originally included faculties of canon law and law.
The university was destroyed by aerial bombing on 7 July 1944 during the Battle of Caen. From 1944 to 1954 it occupied the buildings of the regional teachers' college, while a new campus designed by Henry Bernard was built between 1948 and 1957. Jeune's degree in 1949 therefore falls within the period when the university was operating from temporary quarters during its reconstruction.
