As of April 14, 2015, Kay moved to a new role as Enterprise Consultant. Previously she had served as the deputy editor of the Op-Editor page of the Times beginning in 2003. Kay graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1985 with a bachelor"s degree in journalism and political science.
From 1985 to 1990, she was a reporter and editor with The Pittsburgh Press.
From 1990 to 1995, Kay worked at Newsday, where she served in a number of roles including weekend editors She became assistant metropolitan editor in 1998, handling enterprise pieces and special projects, after having worked in a variety of assigning and editing jobs on the metro desk since 1995.
