Christopher Bernard

Background

Christopher Bernard was born on May 6, 1950, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. Christopher grew up near the Atlantic seaboard and in the farm country of eastern Pennsylvania and the high deserts of Mexico.

Education

Christopher attended Temple University.

Career

Christopher Bernard produced a number of performance pieces, some of which have been broadcast over the radio, and other performed on stage. Has also served as associate editor for Ampersand, a literary and arts magazine, and a co-editor of Caveat lector, a literary and arts magazine.

Christopher contributed poetry, essays, and fiction to various journals, including Cups, A Cafe Journal, Another Chicago Magazine, and Drummer. He is the author of unpublished novels, including The Hyenas, The White God, and Isman, and a collection of prose pieces entitled Kafka's Smile. Bernard also is a contributor of book reviews to numerous periodicals, including San Francisco Chronicle, Fort Worth Star-Telegram, New York Time, and Philadelphia Inquirer.

Achievements

• Bernard is best known as the author of three chapbooks: Gilded Abottoir: Wreckage from a Journey; Dilettante of Cruelty: Deserts; and A Spy in the Ruins.
