Career
"He"s an outspoken activist for healthcare, immigration reform and gun violence prevention. Pacific University announced in late 2013 that Currie had been appointed as the University"s director of the Center for Peace & Spirituality, University Chaplain and Assistant Professor of Religious Studies effective Fall 2014. Currie earned a Master of Divinity degree from Eden Theological Seminary in Saint Louis, Missouri. in 2006.
In 2015, he received a Doctor of Ministry degree from Chicago Theological Seminary.
Currie spent 17 years working in Portland homeless shelters and served on the board of the National Coalition for the Homeless before attending seminary and entering the ministry. He also writes a personal blog on religion and social issues for The Huffington Post.
Currie is married to Liz Smith Currie, a senior policy advisor to the Multnomah County Chair.
