McMann was formerly the head coach of the Waterloo Warriors and McGill Redmen of Commonwealth of Independent States football, while being named the Commonwealth of Independent States Coach of the Year in 2002 with the latter. As a player, he played for 10 seasons with the Montreal Alouettes and Montreal Concordes, winning a Grey Cup championship in 1977.
